The situations and circumstances of life will cause us to either run to the Lord or turn away from Him.

God desires that we come to Him. The Scriptures say --

… “And call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me"
(Ps 50:15 NASB)

The same psalmist also wrote --

… “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.”
(Ps 46:1 NASB)

Our God is ever present to attend to our need. With that assurance, we can rest in the promise given to the Apostle Paul and penned in the eternal Word of God --

… “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
(2 Cor 12:9 KJV)

In this verse, we see God working on behalf of the apostle -- He answers the prayer, offering sufficient grace and strength to persevere. As a result, Paul experiences inner joy and peace. Such confidence in God’s provision and care gives a rest to the soul that comes to us no other way. The promise of a peace from God that passes human comprehension is still ours today. A poet expressed that truth with these words –

From Pain to Peace
by Janice Minton
Sorrow comes unexpected and fills us with pain,
The darkness descends, will the sun shine again?
The soul is overcome with an unanswered plea …
God, where are you? Why did this happen to me?

Take comfort, my friend, if you possibly can,
God knows how you feel, He does understand.
Remember the loss He endured for you and me
When His Son died in our place to set us free.

He will not allow anything to happen to you
That Christ hasn’t felt, and already been through.
And He promises us, “This, too, shall pass.”
He will strengthen you, the pain will not last!

His perfect provision is provided for all.
He will always, instantly, answer your call
The promise is there in His Holy Word …
Every prayer is answered ... none goes unheard.

He never will allow you to suffer more
Than He has already made provision for.
Like a grieving child at your Father’s knee
Trust in Him, Rest in Him, He will give you Peace
