This is the time of year when we see an aspect of God’s creative beauty as the foliage of trees begins to change.

This beautiful planet called earth, embedded in a vast universe, is the mere finger work, or should we say, finger painting from the hand of the Creator. In the midst of this beauty, God placed mankind. No wonder the psalmist with great awe and humility tells us --

… “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?”
(Ps 8:3-4 NIV)

That love for mankind was more than just verbal assent; it was demonstrated in sending the Savior. The apostle John penned the magnitude of that love when he wrote --

… “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
(John 3:16 NIV)

If such is the love of God, and it is, then there is great confidence in the reality that those who have claimed that love through faith in Christ need have no fear of all that comes into their lives. The peace and tranquility that can be the possession of the believer in Christ has been beautifully expressed in poetry.

A Place Near Me
by Janice Minton
When life takes us to a high and windy place, filled with doubt and fear,
Just listen for the voice of God for He is always near.

“There is a place near me, He says, upon this Rock you stand.
I’ll pass by you to clear the way, and I’ll protect you with my hand.”

God does not turn His back on me because He wants me not to see …
But hides me in His clefted rock as He proceeds ahead of me.

He’s leading me along the way no matter what I’m going through,
And Faith demands I trust in Him, and believe His promises are true.

I’m not allowed to see His face, but ever visible is His Grace.
He shelters me inside The Rock, my perfectly provisioned place.

He bids me follow Him in faith, as He gently leads the way,
And the result of the situation will be revealed to me one day.

What security and rest is there for the person whose life is grounded on the Rock of our Salvation, the Lord Jesus Christ. We join in chorus with the psalmist --

... “For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.”
(Ps 31:3 KJV)
