Dr. Harry Martinez, Pastor-Teacher
In recent days we have seen cataclysmic events happen in our country and in other parts of the world.

Such power in the wind, rain, the sea, and volcanoes all remind us of our helplessness against natural forces and our dependency on the Lord for protection. Our hearts go out to the people who have experienced tremendous loss and devastation. One would ask where God is in all this. God works in the adversities and disasters of life to reveal His Person and man’s need for Him. How encouraging it is to know that amidst the suffering and grief the message of the gospel can find hunger hearts to know the love of Christ. Along with the outpouring of relief have come those who go beyond the physical needs and care for the spiritual welfare of the people. Out of difficult times always rises great evangelism. Christians also have an opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ as their share the bounty that God has given. Above all, we can pray for the spiritual needs and opportunities to put into action our faith. James reminds us that the production of Christian works is an outgrowth of our faith.

... “But someone may well say, You have faith, and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”
(James 2:18 NASB)

We have the privilege of walking by faith so that God can work in us that which He wills to do in and through us --

… “For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”
(Phil 2:13 NKJV)
